Cookie Policy

Last updated: April 2026

Boundly handles patent work, some of the most confidential material a business ever creates. We take privacy seriously, and that extends to how we run our website. This policy explains what cookies and similar technologies we use, why, and how you can control them.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files websites place on your device to remember things between visits, like whether you're logged in, your theme preference, or whether you've seen our cookie banner. “Similar technologies” includes things like localStorage, pixel tags, and SDKs, which we lump in under “cookies” throughout this policy for readability.

2. How we handle consent

We operate a default-deny consent model using Google Consent Mode v2. That means:

  • When you first arrive, no analytics or advertising cookies are set. Everything non-essential is blocked until you tell us otherwise.
  • You'll see a banner at the bottom of the page with four clear categories to choose from.
  • You can accept all, reject non-essential, or pick and choose, and you can change your mind any time by clicking “Cookie Preferences” in the footer of any page.

We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals where legally required.

3. Cookie categories

Strictly necessary (always on)

These are required for the site to function, like remembering your cookie choices, keeping you logged in, and preventing fraud. You can't turn these off because the site won't work without them.

What they do: session management, authentication, security, storing your consent preferences.

Analytics (opt-in)

These help us understand which pages visitors actually use so we can improve the site. All data is aggregated and we don't use it to identify you personally.

Vendors: Google Analytics 4
Tied to Google consent signals: analytics_storage

Marketing (opt-in)

These let us measure the effectiveness of our advertising on Google, Meta, and LinkedIn, and show you Boundly ads on those platforms if you've visited us before. We do not sell your personal information.

Vendors: Google Ads, Meta Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag
Tied to Google consent signals: ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization

Preferences (opt-in)

These remember small things that make the site feel familiar, like theme choice, so you don't have to reset them on every visit.

Tied to Google consent signals: functionality_storage, personalization_storage

4. What actually happens if you reject non-essential cookies

The site still works exactly the same. You can browse every page, log in, contact us, book a demo, and use every feature. The only thing that changes is we become invisible to our analytics and advertising partners for your session. Specifically:

  • We won't see that you visited (no Google Analytics pageviews).
  • We won't count you in conversion tracking on Google Ads, Meta, or LinkedIn.
  • We won't send server-side conversion events to Meta via the Conversions API.
  • You won't be added to any retargeting audiences.

That's it. Nothing functional breaks.

A note on Meta Conversions API (CAPI): Some conversion events are sent server-side directly from our infrastructure to Meta. This transmission is gated on your marketing consent. If you decline marketing cookies, we do not send these events.

6. How to manage your choices

On this site:

  • Use the banner shown on your first visit.
  • Click “Cookie Preferences” in the footer of any page to reopen your preferences at any time.

In your browser:

  • Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Be aware that blocking strictly-necessary cookies will prevent the site from functioning.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have specific rights over your personal data:

If you're in the EU, UK, or EEA (GDPR): You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your data, and to object to processing or withdraw consent at any time.

If you're in California (CCPA/CPRA): You have the right to know what personal information we collect, to delete it, to correct inaccuracies, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information. We do not sell personal information in the traditional sense, but certain advertising cookies may qualify as “sharing” under CCPA. You can opt out by declining marketing cookies in our banner or in the footer.

How to exercise your rights: Email [email protected]. We respond within the timeframes required by applicable law.

8. Data retention

Cookie lifetimes vary by vendor:

  • Session cookies expire when you close your browser.
  • Persistent cookies typically expire between 30 days and 2 years, depending on the cookie.
  • Your consent choice is stored for up to 12 months, after which we'll ask again.

9. Updates to this policy

If we make material changes to how we handle cookies, we'll update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, prompt you to review your consent choices again.
